Mabe Pearl
I have Mabe pearl earrings set in a ring of gold filigree.How can I clean the gold without damaging the pearl?
Pearls can be damaged really easily. I would not recommend steaming or using an ultrasonic. Pearls are too delicate. Stop by a local jeweler and ask for the proper cleanser. They should probably be able to sell it to you for $5-$7. Anything safe for pearls will be safe for gold.
Also, it is good pearl care to know that pearls should be the last thing you put on before you leave and the first thing you take off when you get home. Any kind of perfume, hair spray, make up, etc will seep into the the pearls and damage their lustre.
