How much silver content is typically found in silver jewelry such as chains?
I'm trying to make sense of the low price of silver jewelry compared to the spot price on wallstreet.
most of it is made out of sterling silver which contains 92.5 % fine silver, the rest is mainly copper. What's the price for silver at the moment, $ 15 for and ounce? That's 50 cent for a gram fine silver. When I see sterling silver jewelry sold, it can be as much as $10 or more for a gram. The super cheap silver jewelry is normally super light as well.
